Quinta das Marés Jampal & Vital comes from DOC Alenquer, on the south side of the Montejunto foothills, sheltered by the hills of the Alenquer Valley. The region has made wine for over a hundred years and was granted DOC status in 1989. The soils are clay-limestone with low fertility and a slight northern exposure, yielding a cooler expression and clear acidity.
The wine is an equal blend of two regional grapes, Jampal and Vital, varieties that are traditional yet now rare. Vinification prioritizes purity and place: indigenous yeast, restrained use of antioxidants, and controlled aging.
On the nose, fresh citrus meets quince, ripe apple, and a hint of dried fruit. The palate is citrus-driven (more orange than lemon) with notes of freshly cut grass, high, brisk acidity, and a discreet saline finish.
